Jimmy Hayes
1936-2005


Jimmy F. Hayes, age 68, of 134 Cedar Point Road, Johnson City, died Monday, February 21, 2005, at Johnson City Medical Center Hospital following a lengthy illness.
He was a native of Greene County, Tennessee, but had lived almost all of his life in Johnson City. He was the son of the late Walter Eugene Hayes and Euna V. Legg Hayes.
Mr. Hayes had been self-employed for several years as a building contractor, for 10 years at Sherwood Chevrolet as sales manager and more recently was retired but continued to own and operate Lakeshore Apartments.
He was a member of Boone Trail Baptist Church.
An infant brother, Billy Hayes, preceded Mr. Hayes in death.
He is survived by his wife Sara Hawkins Hayes; one daughter, Teresa Reese and her husband, Cecil; two sons: Jimmy L. "Tiger" Hayes and his wife, Deborah, all of Johnson City, Roger Hayes and his wife, Donna, of Erwin; four grandsons: Trevor Hayes, Taylor Hayes, Parker Hayes and Matthew Reese. Also one sister survives, Judy Painter and her husband, Paul, of Chuckey, Tennessee; three brothers: Wayne Hayes and his wife, Pat, John Hayes and his wife, Carla, both of Johnson City and Dennis Hayes, of Chuckey.
Funeral services for Jimmy F. Hayes will be held Thursday at 8:00 PM at Boone Trail Baptist Church. Rev. Ira Cunningham will officiate. The family will receive friends at the church from 6 until 8 Thursday. Family and friends will meet at Washington County Memory Gardens Friday at 11:00 AM. Pallbearers are Bill Alvis, Darrell Guy, Daniel Guy, Bill Rouse, Herman Cox, Bill Dance, Pat McQueen and Ricky Campbell. Honorary pallbearers are Luther "Chink" Curtis, Coach Ken Green, Charlie Ervin, Orlis "Tip" Francis.
